Steps House Veteran's Housing Program

About the Veteran's Housing Program

  • Steps House Homeless Veterans Program (SHHVP) is a Transitional housing program that  provides short-term, supportive housing to Veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The goal of transitional housing is to help Veterans achieve long-term housing stability. SHHVP provides case management, job training and mental health counseling. The program offers three different bed models: 
    • Service-intensive housing for veterans in need of wrap-around support to achieve housing stability
    • Clinical housing for Veterans who have a mental health or substance use diagnosis
    • Bridge housing provides Veterans with short-term, supportive housing while they wait for permanent housing. The program is designed for Veterans who have been offered and have accepted permanent housing. 

Program Eligibility

  • Client must be a Veteran: You must have served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces for at least one day.
  • Client must be homeless or at risk of homelessness: You must be currently homeless or you must be at risk of becoming homeless.
  • Client must be eligible for VA medical benefits: You must be eligible for VA medical benefits.
  • Client must be willing to participate in supportive services: You must be willing to participate in supportive services, such as case 
  • management, job training, and mental health counseling.
  • Bridge Housing clients must be able to provide proof of pending housing. Recovery Housing:
